As an intern, you will be helping out on studio shoots, on-location shoots (if your school schedule allows), video editing, sound design, animation, and more. Day to day you will be working with and learning about the following softwares: Premier, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator, Cinema 4d, and Black Magic DaVinci Resolve.

Our internship program offers students exposure to local news broadcast and digital production. Following a rotational format, students gain experience in various roles within the news department. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about sales, marketing, and administration. Length:
WDSU-TV offers three internship programs a year: fall, spring, and summer. The fall and spring programs are 15 weeks in length, while the summer internship is 8 weeks. Only 6 interns will be accepted per program.
Compensation:
The WDSU-TV News Internship is unpaid. Students are required to receive college credit. Students must provide written confirmation from the college/university that credit will be given. Students will work under supervision of existing staff. Completion of this internship program does not guarantee employment with WDSU-TV.

Here's what to expect from a Nola Weekend Internship
If you’re interested in creative storytelling on a digital platform, then this is a great opportunity to explore. Students will observe the day-to-day operations of digital content production for FOX 8’s NOLA Weekend website. Interns will get a front row seat during the digital storytelling process from concept development to post-production. This can include content brainstorming, developing production ideas, coordinating on and off site shoots, logging production material, writing and editing content, website content management and social media promotion. This internship may include some field experience with digital content producers to observe production development, photography and interview skills.

Editorial Writing/Content Curation Intern
The editorial writing/content curation intern will work with staff as a creative storyteller to research, organize, write and curate content for web articles. The ideal candidate will have interest in local lifestyle content, including events, travel, restaurants, food and drink, nightlife and festivals. The intern will also help with curating viral content to drive traffic and engage the Nola Weekend web audience. You'll be assigned article topics, but may also have the chance to pitch what interests you. Student must demonstrate great writing ability, good news judgment, knowledge of grammar rules and AP style.
Video Production Intern
The video production intern will gain hands-on experience while working with staff as a visual storyteller to shoot and edit video content for Nola Weekend. The student will help produce local lifestyle video content including events, restaurants, food and drinks, nightlife and festivals. Responsibilities can include coordinating on and off site shoots, logging interviews, assisting with shoots, assisting/producing Facebook live videos, producing social media content, shooting and editing video content. Student must demonstrate previous editing experience.
Digital Photo Intern
The digital photo intern will work with staff to develop creative assets and provide still images for use in video, articles and on social media. This student will be a creative storyteller through the camera lens to cover local lifestyle photography including events, restaurants, food and drinks, nightlife and festivals. The intern will also help with social media efforts on Facebook and Instagram to pick excellent photos and write witty captions that will engage our Nola Weekend audience. Student must demonstrate previous skill working behind the camera.
