Arc of GNO is a non-profit day-hab center for adults with disabilities.  Arc of GNO performs educational outreach shows and brings the arts to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who might not otherwise have the chance to particpate in theater arts.

Internship Duties

  • Assist with script and song development

  • Rehearse with adults with disabilities

  • Perform in outreach touring show

  • Assist with all aspects of production development and performance

​

Suggested or Required Skills Needed

  • Musical theater experience

  • Production/stage management experience

  • Compassion for people with disabilities

  • Willingness and ability to travel and perform in greate NOLA schools

  • Can clear a criminal background check (for school shows)

Louisiana History Alive

Louisiana History Alive is a historical character performance theatre company

Internship Duties

  • Assist with managing, repairng cleaning and construction costumes

  • Scheduling fittings with actors

  • Create adn execute To Do list for repairs, handwashing and/or delivering garments for cleaning

  • Create an electronic & hard copy file of inventory & props, care manual, check out system

  • Research, design, construct and fit costumes for one new character

Suggested or Required Skills Needed

  • Strong independent work ethic

  • Clear communication skills

  • Strong design and fabrication skills with access to proper tools and machinery

  • Some driving required.  Fuel reimbursed

  • Historical knowledge/passion, research skills with trusted sources

Orpheum Theater and Tipitina's

This is an unpaid educational internship. As an intern, you’ll gain experience unparalleled in the classroom. We provide interns a basic understanding of talent buying and venue management by working directly with entertainment director of the Orpheum and Tipitina’s. The internship includes basics of marketing, and advertising a show, managing payment with performing rights organizations, the ins and out of producing
a show, and the process it takes to buy any kind of talent from comedians, to orchestras, to hip hop, to EDM.

Internship Duties

Doing the Research
- Who do we want to come to the venue? Find their Bands in Town followers, Poll Star numbers, how many
people listen to them on Spotify, etc. Why do we want them?
- Collect contact information from their agents or managers to add to Orpheum’s database

 

Offer Sheets
- You’ll learn what an offer sheet looks like and how we choose the information that goes inside. Why we
choose a specific artist and the process behind the financials for specific artists (Understanding and practicing
the process of negotiating is a big part of this)


Confirming a show
- Help receive all pertinent information for a confirmation one sheet
- Organize show calendars and input due dates for any contracts or deposits
- Learn what different agency contracts look like, how to read them to make sure both parties are happy

 

Marketing a Show
- Help develop grassroots marketing ideas for shows (Street Team)
- Creating, printing, and publishing ads (graphic design basics)
- Finding content for social media and creating copy for posts

 

The Show
- Reviewing riders. You’ll be part of the discussion determining which parts of artists requests we agree
to and which we dismiss, and why
- Setting up hospitality rooms, greeting artists and their crew, making sure they are taken care of all night
- Learn the process of settling a show with the tour manager with poise and grace
- Enjoy the show!

Requirements

- Enrolled in an accredited college or university and receiving credit for the internship
- Strong interest in the music and event industry
- High level of energy, self starter, independent worker
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to follow instructions
- Available 15 - 30 hours per week, 3 to 5 days per week
- Laptop
*** If chosen, you will be a member of the Orpheum Entertainment team for the duration of this internship. We will be trusting you with extremely sensitive material every day and you must have the ability to handle it accordingly.***

Internship Duties

  • Perform backstage crew management of volunteers

  • Director and executive staff in ensuring that all planas for the stage set are executed

  • Provides crew with a run sheet that includes notes of changes that will occur

  • Attends all required rehearsals

  • Fullfills requests made by the Director on Production day regarding backstage crew

​

Suggested or Required Skills Needed

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Theatre, Music or Dramatic Arts

  • Sophmore with a 3.0 GPA or better

  • Previous experience with theatrical productions preferred but not required

  • Self-starter with leadership experience
