Internship Description: The Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival offers interns a chance to become acquainted with the rich history and contemporary literary and theater scene of one of America’s great cultural cities. While introducing students to the daily operations of a nonprofit arts organization, these intern-ships also provide the opportunity to strengthen writing and oral communication skills, learn about publicity, marketing, development, and promotion, and engage with the arts culture of New Orleans.
The Festival is a year-round effort that includes programming, marketing and promotion, fundraising, grant-writing, membership campaigns, patron management, ticket sales, event planning, volunteer management, publicity, logistics, site management, venue coordination, photography, videography, website maintenance, and social media coverage. The Festival is five days (March 21-25, 2018) with nearly 100 events, including a writer’s craft series, literary discussion series, literary walking tours, theater events, culinary events, music events, a book fair, and other special events. Included is the Saints and Sinners Literary Festival, our 3-day LGBTQ event that includes a reading series, panels, master classes, and special events. We also provide educational outreach programming to area high school students.
