INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
I'm Ashley Preston, the Head Indoor Volleyball Coach here at UNO. I am reaching out because I was wondering any students would be interested in coming to practices and traveling with our team to film videos that we can post on our social media/tik tok etc? This could be an internship for a student and give them creative content for their portfolio.
I have a Master's in Publication Design, and I always love partnering with departments on campus in an effort to strengthen relationships with Athletics.
Attached is a YouTube video of the Tennessee Basketball team to show kind of what I was going for in terms of capturing the moments throughout the season. The beginning is a little dramatic but I really just want them to capture the essence of our team through storytelling and really highlight our Code which is "I Am My Sister's Keeper" :
Does the filmmaker need their own equipment? Or is a camera provided? I have a very generic camera that they could use but also the majority of the content; they could do on their phone since it would be uploaded on social media platforms but if they have a better camera than mine then they are more than welcome to use their own.
Would the filmmaker also be editing the footage? Yes they would be editing and have access to our Volleyball account to post
How often would you like the filmmaker to attend practice? Starting August 8th we will be practicing consistently Monday-Wednesday from 3-6pm so if they could come Mondays at that time that would be great.
When you say, "traveling with the team" what does that time commitment look like and how would that "travel" occur? I'm pretty open to whatever works with their schedule. Travel would entail us covering the cost for: hotel, food and transportation: they would basically be a part of our staff.
We will go to Georgia State on August 24th by bus and return August 26th so I would love for them to come to that bus ride to get film of us on the road, chalk talks, and just capture the overall travel experience.
September 8th and 9th we have a home tournament in the Arena as well as a Family weekend Event so it would entail filming on the 8th at 10:00am-12pm, 2pm-5pm.
We travel to Louisiana Lafayette by Van from September 14th-16th if they wanted to travel with us. We could also coordinate conference travel based on their schedule.
