Pontchartrain Film Festival Student Short Film Showcase is June 9 At Mandeville Trailhead
MANDEVILLE, LA - Students in Louisiana high schools and colleges can enter their newly made short films in an annual competition for cash prizes.
The annual Pontchartrain Film Festival Student Short Film Showcase has moved from the fall festival date to the spring to increase the opportunity for emerging filmmakers to showcase their latest works.
Students can now submit short films up to 30 minutes in length, although 15 minutes or less is encouraged. The final deadline to enter is May 16 and films must be submitted online at www.filmfreeway.com/PontchartrainFilmFestival-350581. Students should identify the school they attend, or where their home is, if attending an out-of-state school.
Louisiana college and high school students’ works selected for competition will be screened this year at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 9 at the Mandeville Trailhead, 675 Lafitte St., Mandeville, Louisiana. A question and answer session will follow the screening with the filmmakers in attendance. Winners will be announced following the Q&A.
There will be a cash award of $100 each for the jury selection of Best College Film and Best High School Film. The public is invited to the screening to vote for their favorite film in each category for the annual Audience Awards competition. Ballots are given out at 4 p.m. and votes are collected from those who view all the films in the competition category.
The competition is sponsored by the Pontchartrain Film Festival and hosted by the City of Mandeville. For information, visit www.PontchartrainFilmFestival.com or email info@PontchartrainFilmFestival.com.
