“A Winged Life” will give viewers an intimate look at the rich traditions and passionate participants of waterfowl hunting, describe how they are intimately entwined in preserving waterfowl habitat, and explore just how vulnerable both have become.
This program will trace the history of some of the region’s most famous hunting camps, as well as public land hunting, along with the traditions and cuisine that make up this rich culture. The program will give a “day in the life” of everyone from the hunters and guides, to the card players, storytellers, cooks, dog trainers, decoy carvers, call makers, duck pluckers, wildlife conservationists, scientists and land managers, environmental journalists. The program will explore the generations of waterfowl enthusiasts and look at the future of the sport.
Emma Reid · Writer and Producer Reid co-produced the National Telly Award winning documentary, Finding Common Ground, which focused on collaboration between scientists, policymakers and other stakeholders to increase the effectiveness of coastal restoration and planning.
This Louisiana documentary is sponsored by Louisiana Public Broadcasting. Interns will assistance with logging/transcribing footage, storyboarding, script writing, help on set for interviews and some basic editing. Ideally, an intern is someone who is eager to learn about documentary filmmaking. An ability to film and edit would be a plus.
