Where: Internship positions will be offered for multiple departments throughout Ochsner Healthcare System. Location will be dependent on department availability and may be located at Ochsner Medical Center - New Orleans, Elmwood, Baptist, West Bank, Kenner, Baton Rouge, Benson Tower, St. Bernard, Bayou, or Dickory and Ochsner LSU Health – Lafayette, Monroe, Shreveport, and Ochsner Rush- Meridian. Travel may be required within each region.

What is the purpose of this program?
The purpose of the program is to provide students, currently enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate degree program, with direct mentorship and hands-on experience to assist in increasing their knowledge of healthcare. In addition, they will identify important skill sets needed to be successful in the healthcare field. This program will focus on time management, data analysis, project management and other leadership skills.
Who can apply?
The program is for students currently enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate degree program, preferably 3rd or 4th year and specifically in healthcare management, finance, accounting, public health, human resources, marketing/communications, information services, information technology or logistics. Students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare are preferred.
What will participants be doing?
Students will be engaged in special projects assigned by the department management team, which could include analyzing data, attending departmental meetings and providing recommendations for process improvement. Classes will be available and included in the curriculum for continued learning and career development.
Is the internship a paid position?
Yes, the internship is paid and is a short-term employment assignment.
What is the time commitment?
The program is a four-day, 32-hour, eight to nine-week summer program from June to August. Participants will be provided a mentor who will assist in establishing a curriculum to help provide the intern with hands-on training and help develop identified leadership skills.
What do participants leave the program with?
Each program participant will receive one-on-one mentorship to help educate on the requirements of running a healthcare department/system and extensive training in the healthcare sector. Successful candidates completing the program will obtain a certificate of completion.
